Christopher commenced his career as a corporate
/ commercial lawyer representing a variety of clients from small
businesses to large institutional clients and lenders. As time
passed, he ceased to devote his entire professional efforts towards
corporate / commercial law and began to practice more and more
litigation with an emphasis upon commercial litigation. Again,
his client base varied from small businesses and individuals
up to large financial institutions, stock brokerage firms and
insurance companies. He has appeared before all levels of court
in Ontario, including successfully representing clients before
the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
The two elements of Christopher’s practice complement
each other in a way not often found in an era of specialization
by lawyers. Through his transactional work, Christopher is able
to determine what documents matter and, sometimes more importantly,
what documents are missing in complex commercial litigation files.
Similarly, an in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the pitfalls
resulting from drafting errors that lead to litigation had provided
the ability to avoid those errors in his commercial practice.
Christopher has been published in numerous periodicals including
the Advocates’ Quarterly and the GTA Business Journal.
He is an active member of the Canadian, New York State and American
Bar Associations.
In late 2004, Christopher determined: (a) that a fully effective
lawyer requires a balance between work and life; (b) that his
wife and two young sons were not seeing him nearly enough; (c)
that large firms on Bay Street are of little use to smaller clients
due to either frequent conflicts of interest or simply because
smaller clients cannot afford access to lawyers at the large
firms. As such, he carefully planned throughout the remainder
of 2004, all of 2005 and the beginning of 2006 to create a law
firm environment based upon technology and “best practices” that
would permit the smaller client to have access to his corporate
/ commercial and litigation abilities at an affordable price,
while at the same time permitting him to “get a life”.
The firm is the culmination of Christopher’s vision and
planning. |
